Ok, just finished a small python program I'm calling fhapod_desktop.py. It scrapes the nasa astronomy picture of the day website and saves the picture and its description to an image and a text file respectively. I have my desktop set to the image and use a bash script to reload my desktop after the pic is downloaded. I set .bashrc to display the description in my desktop embedded terminal. You could also have conky display it if you wish. Source is here |

Got my first python script to work. It parses my websites index.html and prints all tags. The code is here. I'm learning teaching myself webscraping currently. |

Posted a new project. It fades a block of text using the chosen colors. Mainly just wrote it as an experiment in using jtabbedpane and using/passing generics. download the netbeans project here |

Ok, just posted some new code. Its a proof of concept program suite that allows you to monitor network traffic on one machine from any other machine in the local area network. see readme.txt for a long explanation. |

ok, why is projective geometry used for computer graphics? because in 3d space to make things look real, we need to show true perspective. To achieve this we need a 4th point at infinity that all other points fade too. In the real world we can think of a star or galaxy billions of light years away as a point at infinity compared to earth because light spreads from such a source in all directions in an ever expanding arc. it behaves the same way as perspective in realistic line drawings.... hence the only way to represent reality in computer graphics is to emulate this light cone expanding phenomenon geometrically. |

Polished the code I use for a program I'm calling Extremely Simple Blog Tool. That's a link to
the project source. It's wriiten in java using netbeans. I wrote it to simplify updating this
website. Basically I just type whatever into the program and click save. The program
then autogenerates the desired markup code for a cronological weblog update.
Clicking post will log into my webserver via ftp and upload the file. It's like frontpage only
MUCH simpler. I prefer simpler. Plus it's cheaper. |

My source code page is up. I uploaded a bunch of old code I wrote in college to the page. Some of it is a bit amatuerish, but as I said, I was a student. Fellow compsci students should find it usefull though. |
